Children are entitled to a whole range of rights during an armed conflict which are flagrantly abused and violated. Although imperfect, it is inevitable that the existing body of law has the potential to provide the impetus for the creation of the mechanisms sufficient to challenge and deal with the protection of children affected by armed conflict. It is on international community to mobilize political pressure on the states that violate the internationally accepted standards of such protection. The author explores the main mechanisms to achieve this goal, concluding that it is of the utmost importance to end the impunity at both international and national level, as law in its declaratory form is not sufficient for the protection of children, and can not reduce the harm children suffer as a result of an armed conflict.en
