| sr |
dc.description.abstract | Waste management is an integral part of the general EU policy on environmental protection. Defining “waste” is a complex issue and the subject of academic debates, as well as legislative provisions and judicial and administrative decisions. According to the EU Directive (2008/98/European Commission), waste is any matter or object that the owner discards, plans or must discard, in accidence with the law. In Serbia this issue is regulated by the Strategy on Waste Management 2010–2019. In the legislation of Serbia, medical waste is regulated by the Law on Waste Management (2009; 2016) and the Regulation on Medical Waste Management (2010). The policy and legislation of Serbia on issues of waste management, and in particular medical waste management is for the most part harmonized with EU standards. | sr |
